    I have been using all naniwa stones so far,and i just got a coti combo. Do you have to soak the coti stone for any length of time or just wet it with spray bottle???? thanks

    No soaking..Coti's are non pourous...Just spritz the surface, reapply when it dries...
    Some guys hone until dry, I don't recommend this...Water helps float away the metal...
    We have assumed control !

    You can try using it dry (doesn't hurt anything), but I don't like the feel. More specifically, the lack of feel.

    If you want to experiment, you could even try lather for finishing--supposed to be how a lot of old barbers did it.
