Identification
I have been told that I have my Grandfather's "razor hone" however the hone is all I have with nothing to identify it. Is there any way to identify my stone. Sorry I do not have pictures I will have to take some for you.

The best way to do it would be to post some good quality pics of all sides of it and include a ruler or some other scale item so we can get an idea of size.
Include some pics of the makers mark as well, if there is one, as this will also help alot!

Without photos it is impossible unless the hone is a barber hone with embossed lettering or if it has a label of some sort. Once you post photos someone may be able to ID the hone.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 202Are you sure that he used it on straights? To me it looks more like Washita or sandstone both of quite low grit.

It's so hard to tell by those pics. They seem to have an amber tint to them, maybe it's me...Try to get some pics with good lighting so we can see the true color and texture of the hone....
