    Default Help Identifying Hones

    Good evening gents,
    Just wondering if anyone can help me identify what i've aquired if anything...lol.
    From what i've read in the wiki the one may be a BBW..its a kind of purple color and feels fairly smooth.
    The other I really dont know, Ive attached pics of front back and side...if anyone can help please do Thanks

    Almost always you will find a coticule and BBW combined together either as a natural pair of rock veins cut out together or else glued together. This is because the coticule by itself is quite fragile and needs a stronger substrate to support it. You might want to either consider gluing them together and cutting them to matching shapes, or else glue the coticule to something else like a wood base, or else just be VERY careful with it. Of course, you should do that anyway!

    +1 to gluing something to that Coticule. They are very fragile, or unstable in that condition. They were originally backed with BBW, and later with slate...but anything will do, even wood....and a good two part epoxy...

    +1 on that. I do have one coti on it's own but it is very thick and narrow. The gluing would make it too cumbersome to use and I keep it protected in the original box for all time when not in use.
