Good point, since he's been using one, but I never recommend a Coti to a new user, usually a Norton 4/8 or Naniwa 5 and 8K, it's hard enough for a new guy to learn how to hone, let alone figuring out a Coticule...and I agree. If you do want to buy one, check Bart at Coticule.be He can at least give you some specifics on the individual hone.
BTW, 400.00 and up, for a Coticule seems really high to me...If you want, contact me via PM, and I may be able to point you in the right direction....
Good Luck,

Oh yes, could be. But if we are going to split hairs (heh heh), Zee asked where he could purchase a couticule, not a coticule. possibly a cheap ebay imitation?
Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

Thanked: 0Hey guys, took a while for me to find my own post. I have been using an old barbers hone, not coticle, but the man i borrowed the hone from let me use his coticle ( how do you spell that damn word) to sharpen my razors once. So i have learned on a belgian yellow. Id really like to walk into an antique store and find one, just hasnt happened yet. Thanks for everyones help.

Every single coticule is different. By using only ones it is hard to know the stone. if you have honed At least 10 or more blades on that stone.
i have nothing against coticule to own it.
Very important part is from whom or company etc you buy make sure that stone is mean to for straight razors. Exactly to say you can finish the straight razor on that stone. Stone will be fine enough.
This is the reason i always advise to own synthetic hones such as Norton 4/8k, Naniwa etc.
it is easy to learn and you know what are you getting.
hope this helps.
