Thanked: 522Coticule issue

Not to get sidetracked here but I was told by my barber to hone with shaving cream back in the late 60's.
Back on track, last week I sent 5 hones to one of our honemeisters to have their performance evaluated.
The verdict is in on only two of them so far. My 8x3 Coti has not passed the test. The seller sold me a Coti that doesn't cut sufficiently and I am sure this has happened to other members. This hone apparently won't work with or without slurry.
I have since forgotten from whom I purchased it so any complaint to the seller is out of the question. What's an amateur honer to do? Fortunately my Nakayama passed the test with flying colors so I have a reliable finisher.JERRY
OOOPS! Pass the styptic please.

Yep, mine fits that one to a T. I was able to figure out dilucot on it but it took a ton of practice to get good edges. I now know the stone enough, you need to drag out dilution very long or the water will finish the razor too quickly.

Thanked: 488That is really aggravating to me that someone would sell a coti knowing it won't do the job no matter what. Yes they are out there but back a few years ago those would never have made it out on the market for sale.

Thanked: 522Whoa
That makes 3 requests in the last 30 minutes for my stone. One in an email, one in a post and one in a PM for me to send the stone. Did I mention that it is a combo so the BBW side needs to be evaluated also.
All this takes time. Thanks for all the interest. Lemons aboundJERRY

Well, I don't want to buy it. I just want to evaluate it (the coticule side). I would never be so presumptuous as to offer to buy something that wasn't offered up for sale.
This is an intellectual exercise for my edification. I apologize if it came across as anything else.
