    Default Hone ID?

    hey guys,
I found this hone in a local classifieds,
I contacted the seller to let him know I'm interested in purchasing it,
but anyone got an idea of what it is? I know the picture is a little angled and you don't get to see much of the hone.
Even guesses are welcome, doesn't need to be 100% accurate.
    thx

There are a lot of natural hones that can be green or just look green in pictures. Probably not a CF though because they're usually narrow and have a more natural shape.

Just ask for a better picture of the surface.

How the stone has been used can also effect the colour. If its been oiled or allowed to get dirty that could effect the look of it.

How does the hone feel in terms of grit? Smooth or coarse? Could you get a picture of the surface of the whole hone? Any inclusions might help ID it.

I'll be picking it up this week-end, won't know till then. In the description though, he mentions it as razor hone oil stone. So it would be appropriate to assume he used oil, and it does look pretty quite dirty (dried up slurry) in the picture.
    hopefully this helps a bit.
either thursday of saturday I'll be picking it.
does green slurry say anything to anyone?

How much is narrow? 2"? And shape depends on its age and technology of manufacturing.

They often are narrow shapewise like 5:1, I sold one that was 6:1. I have one that is 2 1/8" wide but with a length of 10" it looks narrow imo. There are plenty of exceptions but long and narrow seems common.

If you mean it that way as a ratio I have to agree. On the other hand most of CFs I had in my hand were 1 3/4" and bigger which I would say is in razor world medium to wide.

From that picture I'd say it could be just about anything.

    Shall I take a wild guess....just for...like..fun...as to what it...might be....based on....a very poor picture?
