    it depends previous condition of the edge.
    if 5 didn't do the job go head make 5 more and see. you can do 5 each time and check the edge.just don't too many laps.
    will brake the edge,

    I'm gonna re-visit the how-to honing videos on here and see what I'm missing, could be my technique.

    Would this hone be suitable for finishing after an 8k norton?

    I'm currently thinking this progression: 4k, then 8k, then the barber hone, then pasted CrO strop.

    Does that make sense?

    Unfortunately the only way you will find out is to try it. But...before you try it be sure your getting a very good shave from the 8K. If your not, then you will never know if its the barber hone or a lack of time on the 8K. An 8K hone is more than adequate to achieve an excellent shaving edge.
