Default King Midas 2-Sided Barber Hone

Just picked this up on Ebay :

KING MIDAS TWO SIDED RAZOR HONE on eBay.ca (item 300513037134 end time 16-Jan-11 20:00:14 EST)

Does anybody know anything about these? I've heard of them before, but no real details.

Also does anybody know which side is the finer and which side is the coarser.

Looking to use this to touch up/refresh my razors.

    Thanks guys

Try searching the honing forum for "King Midas". Maybe someone's posted about it before.
"These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

    Thanks for the reply!

What grit would you compare the coarser side to..ie, what would I use it for. Obviously the stamped side i use like a regular barber hone (finishing/touch up) but what about the coarser side?

Hmm interesting, so I could use this side similar to a 4k norton then?

Also, do you use lather on yours when you use it?

I saw a pic of instructions for it before that mentioned do not use lather with it, but a lot of people say to use lather with your barber hone.

using lather.oil or water or dry depends on stones. if your stone says don't use then don't.
i use dry and just test purposes only.
Yes you can use as a 4k level similar to norton 4k level.

    Thanks for all the replies!

How many laps do you usually do (fine side) and what do you go to after (linen, Cr0 etc.)?

I just did about 5 laps and then 20 leather after before my shave and I didn't really notice any difference :s
