Thanked: 2204We use the term "Escher" rather loosely here. We are referring to a type of hone variously labeled German Waterstone/ Thuringen/Escher. Escher was a brand name. This type of stone was quarried in Germany and , like most natural stone, came in various colors and grit ranges. The only way to determine how good one of those stones are is to actually use it.
