These old Fox hones have a label that reads in German and has words on it that look like they're related to the Escher Co.

On the label it says you can use oil though..

Under the new OBAMA plan it's called the redistribution of hones. If you are fortunate enough to have a few hones and there are some people that have none, we take your hones, no matter how hard you worked for them, and give them to the people that wanted them, but didn't want to have to work for them.See how fare that is. Now everyone that has more then one hone of a type, please P.M. me to sign up. I am the official hone redistributator.(?) If you do not, we have hone detection devices in orbit, and you WILL receive a visit by the HONE POLICE.

I have a Goldfisch. IMHO you cannot compare them with Eschers. It is a fine German natural hone but much harder.
The label says it can be used with oil or water.

Just as a point of information. The first person I recall posting about 'brown' Eschers was hi_bud_gl. A year or two ago. Shortly after that I spoke with two separate Escher collectors, not members of SRP, who, independently of each other, told me that they had one or more brown Eschers and that they were very good. The stones didn't have end color designation or Escher bottom labels though.

I haven't found anyone who has ever seen one with an Escher label, nor is that color represented on the only vintage Escher price list I've ever seen. The one brown I have is good and it resembles an Escher but for the brown color. It would be cool for a labeled brown to pop up. Maybe someday.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I know Sham told me to not go after one of these given that I have a Y/G Escher, but man I'd like a chance to play with a brown Escher

I don not know how you can justify calling a hone an Escher when it does not have an Escher label on it.

Seems that Eschers are so popular and pricey that every likes his German natural water hone to be an Escher.
