Thread: naniwa chosera or work stones

The naniwa stones come in several types, most mentioned here is the chosera i think, the hardest stone they have. The work stones are cheaper but apparently softer.
Any reason why i should steer away from the work stones? (Thinking a of getting a 1k hone for bevel setting)

Yup, the Chosera 1K is a very fine bevel setter.
However, the Super Stones are very good too, and quite a bit cheaper.
I don't know what a work stone is, but all products from Naniwa seem to get pretty good feedback online

Actually, Many of us use the Naniwa Super Stone. The smaller one mounted to the base. I can't speak about the Chosera, I don't have any, don't really see the need for them. If your maintaining your own razors, The Naniwa SS (what I think you mean) will work well for you. Also, an affordable bevel setter and a real good one, is the King 1k.

I know the work stones you are talking about, they are different from the superstones, Have been tempted myself, think they might not be 8x3 but cant seem to find the dimensions again.

The work stones are quite common in the EU.
I would suggest the Superstones all day long!

The work stones are probably the cheapest stones available in the eu,
that have a name tag on it. Some guys say they work,
and if money is really, really short you might consider them.
But they are far from the Superstones, wich are top notch.

The third ones, the chosera are very expensive but pretty good, too.
I still prefer the superstones. I recommend these

Thx for the tip, for the 1k stone it doesn't even have a big difference.

I'll go for the super stones then.

(last time i put a cheap secondhand part on my motorcycle, it broke of again. I wont even start about cheap shoes)
