that's definitely a good collection and you must have a good wife as well,i love natural stones but i don't think i'd be able to spend that much,i'm giving up smoking and my incentive is one translucent maybe in the future i can add more, with the ezi hone will you use the angle guides on the ends i'm curious what you think of them, also how would you compare the finish of the translucents and the charnley forest.

i'm going to compare my charnley forest hone to my 16k shapton sometime this week now on the ez hone i bought that for my pocket knives when set the bevel for knives ,pen knives i use a 25 degree angle and clip blades i use a 20 degree angle the most important thing to keep in mind with sharpness for knives is edge geometry and then polishing

i usually stick with 10 degrees but for certain jobs i have sharpened differently even sushi style and it does seem to change for personal prefference too,i've worked with a couple hundred people over the years and most of them had they're own style even amongst people doing the same job with a variant or two,one thing i have read on this and other razor sites where people say it's not worth the effort to hone they're knives at the higher grits that they finish razors with,i disagree with that and always polish my edges all the way to hair popping and always have in fact i bought my arkansas's for my work knives before i started shaving with straights, once i experienced the way a hair splitting highly polished edge glides through what ever i cut i knew i could never go back to lower grits and be happy,i'd like your oppinion on the subject and if you know of others oppinions that would be great too i'm also going to get more oxides from Larry at whipped dog and try and do what you mentioned in another post off putting the oxides on the stone, would the black be ok with it or should i wait till i have a translucent and i'm thinking if there's a way to bond the oxides into super fine stones the idea came from thinking about all the stone dust created by the cutting and finishing natural stones and what happens to it could that be bonded aswell, sorry to ramble on just had a lot of thoughts when i started posting

alucard73 i've used the chromium oxide powder on translucent before but i like the chromium oxide liquid on balsa wood the best i got my chromium oxide liquid from chefknivestogo.com great stuff i also have the .25 micron diamond spray and hard felt but i dont use that on knives if would work beautifully i just dont need my knives that sharp and yes to the boron carbide (the black paste) they have that to in liquid the boron carbide in a past post i said it was 15,000 grit i was wrong its 30,000 grit the chromium oxide is 60,000 grit and the .25 diamond is some where around 120,000 grit
