Ever since I got my chosera 1K I haven't touched my DMT 600/1200. The little slurry stone that comes with the chosera can aid in making it a quick cutter, but it is already pretty fast. Plus, I think it leaves less scratches than the diamond plates and allows me to jump to the coticule with no real issues at all.
The only time I use my DMTs is when I have a big chip to hone out and then I use the DMT 325 and go to the chosera from there.

Not to hijack the thread, but Stu, when is the next razorcon or has it not yet been confirmed? I'm not sure that I can wait till then to try a Chosera 1K! Have you seen how much the 10K is? £170!

It's not confirmed yet but hopefully it'll be in the next month or so...! I've been manic at work so I've not had time to organise it. Hopefully I'll get to it next week, that's my plan.
Yeah, they get pretty pricey! Has anyone used the high grits for razors? Are they any good?

Stu and Scipio:
Yup, I have the 1K-5K and the 10K Chosera's. I was thinking that I should bring them along to the meet.
I feel very confident that you will both look at that price tag with a different eye, after trying them out.
I'm also bringing a Suehiro Gokumyo 20K, which I just received, and that stone sure is a finisher!
Sorry about the hijack, everyone!
To be on topic as well:
The scratch marks left from the DMT stones, both 325, 600 and 1200, was such a turn of for me when I got mine.
I tried to break them in, probably didn't do enough, but I decided that these stones were not for me. I even got a less than good feeling when relegating them to my kitchen knifes. They ended up doing lapping in my house, nothing more.
In other words, the Chosera would be my choice, it is a good bevel setter. The accompanying 600 Grit cleaning stone ads to its versatility as well.
Others obviously feel different about themLast edited by Birnando; 04-15-2011 at 09:02 PM. Reason: adding to the OP's topic.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....
