Thanked: 121How does the Chosera slurry stone work?
Seems they supply the same rubbing stone with all the hones, through 10K. One vendor claims the slurry stone is 600 grit.
Used with the green 1K (the only Chosera I have), it seems to produce a mixture of green-brown slurry. OK, that makes sense -- a mix of 600 and 1K particles should cut a mite faster than just 1K abrasives. But at the other end of the spectrum, at 10K, what would be the point of having 600 grit particles in the soup?
Don't plan on replacing my SS hones with Choseras -- just wonderin'.

Well, they aren't supplied as slurry stones as such.
The producer states that they are cleaning stones, to be used for cleaning swarf and refresh the hones.
That said, i do use them for slurry too.
Mostly on the 5K, to bridge the gap from the 1K a bit.
It seems harder than the actual hones, so they release very little to the mixture themselves.
I find that on the 10k, slurrying a bit, releases particles to break down, making the hone very fine indeed.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 3795Yup, what he said. If you are familiar with the Norton lapping hone, it is much more coarse than the Norton 1k, 4k, or 8k hones, yet it is still capable of refreshing the edge of each of the hones.
