Well now that all you rock addicts have had some time to digest the 1k Chosera bevel setter,i need some feed back,cus i am leaning that way. All i have for stones is the nanis 1 5 8 12 k, and setting the bevel with a nanai 1k can take a while. Thanks

The 1k SS works well as part of the set but it's a slow cutter and a soft stone so it dishes out easily.

The Chosera is a fast cutter, leaves a good edge and doesn't load or dish easily so it's pretty much my favourite bevel setter.

It is pricey though, so it's really a call as to whether you want to spend the dough.

Personally I start every razor on that stone and then progress onto either the naniwa SS or shapton on glass stones after that.

I've done 50 odd razors on the Chosera now and it's worked great on all of them.

Stubear pretty much summed up my experiences with that stone.

My favorite bevel setter by far.
The speed, the scratch-marks, the hardness, the ability to stay flat and the low dishing is all qualities I value in it.

It's also worth mentioning that,IMO, it requires a good soaking before it performs at it's best. I soak all my Choseras for about 20 minutes before use. YMMV

I've been using a Chosera 1k for a few months now and have no complaints. Once the bevel is set on the Chosera, I go through the Shapton Glass stones, 1k - 4k - 8k - 16k and I am getting better edges than I ever have which probably means I am getting a better bevel than ever before.

It works for me.............

One thing to note here real quick, and I am taking nothing away from the Chosera but some of us are doing the same thing here,,, we are adding a dedicated bevel setter to the honing routine, not just replacing a 1k hone...

I still think the Chosera 1k is the best bevel setter I have used, out of quite a few

But I thought it would be remiss not to point out that many of us have started using our 1k Nortons, Shaptons, and Naniwas, etc: as part of the system and the Chosera as the dedicated bevel setters, others haven't and still love it... all personal as usual with this sport

I finally broke down, I will order one too next week, sold my 1200 DMT to get the cash for it. Too much good reviews on it to not try it

I will have to order from Metalmaster, because shipping prices are horrible to the EU anywhere else.

I have seen the Metalmaster store online in the past.
I seem to remember them being located in Japan.
Is that the same store you are referring to?
