Thanked: 3795OK, if you only need to keep this sharp, then you don't need to learn any of the one hone sharpening stuff with which some people have so much difficulty. You can use it in the same manner as a barber hone for touch ups. The only difference will be the number of strokes. Just wet the stone with water and do 25 to 50 light strokes. Then strop and shave. Do this every time you notice any diminishment in the quality of the shave. If this does not provide adequate improvement to the edge, then you can do more strokes or else you can first build a small amount slurry and do 25 light strokes with slurry followed by 25 more with just water. Of course, the numbers may need to vary depending on the condition of your razor and the character of your particular coticule.

Thanked: 3795In that case I submit myself to the mercy of the mods.
Never jokingly declare that free admission will be given to anyone bringing a shrubbery to a showing of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Know why? It takes too damn long trying to figure out whose yards all that stuff came from! This was one of the lessons I learned in college.

Thanked: 8I'm touching up a few razors that were not too dull just to get the hang of it.Then I will tackle a MK 31 with ivory scales that is very dull.I just recently bought that one,I'm looking forward to shaving with it.I have a Puma Gold,a Fili, three Helje's,ivory scaled Joseph Rodgers, couple Shefields.I don't like putting them in the mail for honing. This coti is important to me.

Since I don't want to create a new thread, I thought I'd just pose my question here:
I am considering getting an Veinette natural combination stone, and I know I will need a slurry stone. I was just wondering if I could use a yellow coticule #1 bout for both the BBW and the yellow side or would it be better to use a combination slurry stone as well?
