looks nice, they're not hard to use either, but if you want to use it for multiple things you'll need to create slurry on it so you want another (small) piece.

Well, you'd better learn how to use it fast. You're going to need something sharp to defend yourself against that spider plant.

Have you honed a razor before?
Have you use a straight razor before?
Do you have any other hones?
Do you plan to use it for sharpening razors or for keeping them sharp?
What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

I've been shaving with straights everyday since March 21.I have not honed a razor before.I have a rotation of eight razors.I just want to keep them sharp. The only thing I know about swallows are the two I have on my chest.I was in the Navy and they brought me home.

That's pretty simple and straightforward. Just put some water on top of the hone and gently draw the razor across in x-pattern with no pressure whatsoever, keeping it flat. Keep your eyes on the water bead in front of the edge, when the razor's sharp it'll go over the edge. What you want it is the beed to do the same thing along the whole edge, that's how you know your stroke is correct and the pressure is uniform along every point of the edge.
It usually takes a little practice, but that's basically it, pretty simple. Doesn't really matter the particular hone you're using either, it's pretty much the same principle on almost all of them.

The slurry is for really dull razors, simple maintenance doesn't require it.

Hang on Ron. The bridge keeper is only allowed to ask 3 questions not 5
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
