Thanked: 275Grit - to - Micron Conversion Tables
I've been looking for conversion tables for "grit to microns". So far:
Conversion Chart Abrasives - Grit Sizes
which has French, ANSI, and Japanese standards;
Grit and Microgrit Grading Conversion Chart at READE
Grit Size Chart
Micron-graded Abrasives comparison table
I'm not ready to summarize, yet. But one thing is clear:
. . . No single formula is going to work.

And to think, this is only about particle size and to some extent how carefully they are graded. Add to that the types of materials the particles are made of and how they are manufactured, what they use to bond them etc.
You would be here till the end of time trying to quantify it.

Someone posted something about this a while back. It was a chart comparing grit to micron and mesh too. it's around here somewhere. Of course there are differences between "standards" in some countries and I don't recall if the original chart covered that.
