    Smile Why Coticules are GREAT

    Hello Guys,

Today I started restoring 4 seconde hand coticules.

They cleaned up very nicely and the best thing was no 2 coties even looked similar to the other. They are all completely different. Tomorrow I will start honing on them to check there performance.

Because I know you guys like pictures I added a couple.

1st picture: All 4 happely together dry

2nd picture: the 3e one on the right. This one has a heavy grain to it which is clearly visible (from this angle it almost looks like I did a poor job flattening the stone)

3e picture: its hard to see in this picture but this cotie looks a bit green and it has a very nice looking patern on it.

4th picture: this coti is very pale compared to the rest of them, it has no lines no visible grain no drawing nothing. You might say boring I say unique.

5th picture this one looks a lot like the previous one but thant with a bit more spickels and its a bit yellowish.

    6th picture: Wet shot

7 and 8 picture is my favorite from the bunch (I didn't yet have a greenisch Coticule).

Hope you guys enjoyed the photos.

    Guus

At a meetup this weekend I was glad to discover that I'm not the only person who sniffs hones. I've got one coticule that smells really sweet, and two others with no scent at all. Have you checked yours?

Are you sure the one mounted to the paddle is a coti? I can't see a side view to clarify if any blue is present, and although they may exist without a blue layer, it looks from this angle to be a Thuringian.

Just honed 2 razors on them. The big one to get them into shape and afterwards it's comparing time.

Big one is great and cuts fast with much feedback and is quite fine.

The green one is very fine and cuts nomally.

The white one which I think is really a coti due to the slurry and the slate back, has almost no feedback, it feels like you dragging it over water and it has no audioble feedback. Its finer than the big one but less fine than the green one.

The yellow one is very much like a standerd coti no special atributtes.

The back slate is visible in the picture (don't confuse it with the wooden box in the background)

I have an "old vintage" natural combo coticule that looks similar to your coticule in the box
from my limited experience it's very fast on slurry and a great finisher on water

Beautiful stones. They will give you amazing shaves.

I've stopped checking out the hone section just because I always want more when I see them. Lol and now I want more lol.
