New Thuringian
Just got a new Thuringian and tried it out last night on three razors. That thing is like honing on a stick of butter. It is incredibly smooth. I took the three razors (already shave ready) freshened on a coti with mild slurry, then to just water. After that I gave them about 50 strokes on the Thurni. It is a little small (5x1) but it is really nice.I have to take my time and lightly use a finger on the toe end to ensure I maintain contact throughout the stroke. Eventually I will get my stroke down on it, but until then I figure it is better to be safe than to not maintain contact. I will shave with them this weekend. I can't wait. I'll try to post pics soon.

They are great stones, make sure to make a lot of laps because it is a small one.

Thanked: 1936I'd be willing that your freshened up blades should be some smooth shavers. I keep one & a Shapton GS 16 in my bathroom just for refreshing a blade if it's not quite where I want one after a shave. That 50x should be about right on water for the size...looking forward to the report.

Count me in too, +1. I keep an Escher out in my bathroom as well, for touch up's, and it's capable of a bit more with a slurry. It leaves a nice buttery smooth edge...
