Thanked: 5Name this hone?
Cleaning out my Grandfathers house I found this hone. I'm thinking it was used when he straight razor shaved. Th other pic is with Grandpa's old shaving mirror. Stone measures 10"x2". 3/4" thick. Stone is very smooth. Small stone is more course measuring 1"x1" 1/2" thick. I did flip it over and started to lap. Needs a little more more. Anyone know what type of stone this is?

Thanked: 2591I have seen eschers come in those types of boxes, but with no label I would guess a thuringian type of stone

Please lap the side which was used then post pics both wet and dry and with slurry. This will give a far better idea.

if you do use the escher/thuringian stay away from the indian stone its to coarse of a stone to use it and jump to the escher/thuringian
