Hi Stefan,
does the yellow/orange part of your Nakayama Asagi have any influence ?
Do you avoid honing on it?
Thanks
Philipp

Unknown mine Asagi. The same marker No18 is on the dai that the stone came with. Not super hard, some base stone comes up with nagura. Just a lovely stone to hone on and at this point my favorite.

Hi,
Not calling names, because I'm not going to begin with "Vendor bashing",
but I do want to highlight certain practices, as placing fake stamps on Jnat's, which are so plain WRONG...
I made an extra warning (with the known pictures, thank you "Alex" and "Ovidiu") into my articles:
see: https://historyrazors.wordpress.com/...atural-stones/, under chapter: "Hatanaka Hatahoshi“
Thank you!
Had a box from Japan arrive today. First of my new Okudo Iromono Stones is lapped more to come.

Got two more lapped today. The first is another Okudo with a cool mokume Iromono pattern similar to a larger stone I have. This one has kawa on all three long sides plus some in the crevice at the end.
The second is an experiment of sorts. These are sword polishers and the second stone is a Narutaki koppa from Nakayama. Usually made into finger stones or polishing powder. These are supposed to be the finest stones so I wanted to try a koppa and maybe some nagura. Seems unnaturally fast so far.

I thought I posted this here before, but I guess not.

Here's a size 60 (190x70) with an unusual 'suminagashi' pattern stone. It's a greenish-grey asagi type. Suminagashi means ink pattern and refers to the marbled art papers. It's quite hard and produces a wonderfully smooth edge. It's performed well on everything so far.
Cheers, Steve
