I'm waiting to hear a story on the news about Brighty 83 crushed by stones falling off the shelf in his house... All while his girlfriend is trying to figure out how the shelf was hung using only glue and nobody bothered to screw in the section over his side of the bed.

The ozuke had a lot of su but i lapped probably 3-4mm off the top and most of it has gone now!

First photo shows is before lapped \ second photo after lapping to get it flat (lots of su)\ third photo after lapping 3-4mm (next to no su)

I could probably lap a little more and get it 100% but its not bad how it is, It cuts like a 4k but seems to give an edge like a 12 - 16k. Very happy how it turned out!

Lapping stones with Su is a lucky dip if you get to a nice surface just use it till you have to lap again. Further in can be worse or better depends were the bubbles stopped.

Amen Brother Oz!! Leave well enough alone Brighty. If you found a sweet spot, stop and offer thanks to the God of Su!

About what they are I shan't be tempted to state anything, but I may venture a guess about what's on them:

    #1
    本鳴瀧 hon-Narutaki = genuine Narutaki
極上 gokujou = first-rate; finest quality; the best)
正本山合砥 shou-honyama-awasedo = real Nakayama whetstone (used
極上 gokujou again (I think, the kanji aren't very clear in the picture)
    一本撰 ipponsen = dedicated selection

    #2
    愛宕鉱山合砥 Atago-kouzan-awasedo = Atago-mine whetstone
    最上級 saijoukyuu = highest grade
四十型 [no clear idea on the meaning: yosokata? aikata? yotokei? = litt: four ten (or forty) model (or style)]

Well, the ozuke stone stabbed me in the back... I went to test it again and a small piece cracked off the top and there was a huge soft section underneath..

I gave my ozuke stone one chance and it let me down! So let this be warning to anyone who lets me down!
