Barber Hone Chip
Just picked this up and am wondering thoughts on if this is a deal breaking chip it's a Keen Kutter barber hone and the label side is fine. Both side are lapped. Thanks!

The Swaty I use looks worse than that. As long as the chip doesn't catch the razor, which it doesn't look like it will, it should be no problem.

Looks like no big deal at all, though it wouldn't hurt to sand that edge a bit with some 400 grit sandpaper. Wet/dry or, dry, it probably won't matter much, just smooth it out a bit.
Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.

If your right handed, and hold the hone with the chip on the left side, You should avoid it when doing an x stroke, right? It looks like no big deal either way....
We have assumed control !

thats in better shape than mine adn ive never had an issue so dont worry about it, u got a nice hone there she will keep ur razor sharp for a looong time.

If you have the means to lap it for yourself, say on a DMT 325, then simply take out the chips. Lap it and chamfer the edges and... bingo, chips gone.
I have like 8 of these now, and every one of them came with chips. Not any more!!-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --
