WHat Grit DMT
I am thinking about getting an 8" DMT to dress stones with. What grit are you guys using for that?

Thanked: 4942I use the DMT 325 for cleaning, flattening almost all of my hones. It works well under running water but wants to stick on the higher grit stones (nature of the beast). I tried the DMT 325 Duo to see if it performed any better but it really did not. For the money, this is a good all purpose solution in my opinion.
Have fun.

From what I've read and seen in the videos the most used is a 325 DMT, that's what I have. Check out the honing videos by gssixgun, he uses one a lot when honing. It can be used to lap (flatten) hones, dress hones, make slurry, grind down the heel of the blade....it's just a good all around, very handy piece to have.
A good place to look for one is at Best Sharpening Stones, you probably find a better price."If You Knew Half of What I Forgot You Would Be An Idiot" - by DoughBoy68

I use a DMT 325 to lap my stones too.

Ray, I have the dmt 220/325 4x10" duo sharp combo plate and it has worked very well for me. I also have an EZE Lap diamond which works well but I really like my DMT plates, very hard to wear out. Ken

I have a D11C that is quite nice. I like the smaller size of the 8 but I found the 11 on the bay for less than the 8. On the upside, it's quite handy for pocket and rough use knives

Thanked: 11What exactly are you guys doing dressing stones??? I don't know what "dressing" means other than putting on clothing or meat prep, but I would be mighty careful who I told this to!
