Default My first thread here, hone ID question.

I am offered a hone, but hesitating if I should buy it. Looking for a finishing hone. Probably it'll be hard to ID this stone from the pictures. But every attempt is well appreciated. What questions should I ask to get closer to knowing the type and grit of this one?

With the pictures as they are, my best guess would be a Norton India oilstone. I think I can make out an orangish color, but this is only a guess as the pics don't reveal much.

Just got the answer from the seller, he is not willing to ship to me....So probably I'll try to buy a welsh slate. Thanx for the input anyway.
