Yes, Jimmy. The pursuit of the sweet spot - I've hit it a few times - keeps me going. Two edges, out of more than 60, were right there w/ a nice asagi finish. If I'd not gotten those edges, I would have dismissed the coti as a romantic wank.
'Tried my 3rd edge on the BBW side of the Veinette and with no drama, got a much higher level of sharpness - more like a 12k. I think this stone just likes to taunt me. The BBW edge is a bit crispy, but there are plenty of remedies for that. In an attempt to get a bit more crispiness for one member, I had to return to the coti for some crispness (ironic) after the asagi gave it adequate sharpness. This hobby is just a madness sometimes! As the lovely bride would say: I've never suffered from mental illness. I've enjoyed every minute.

Thanked: 2Now, I don't feel bad...I've been buying bouts and odd-looking stones for no reason other than curiosity. I have to say though...I don't have any stones looking like these I've seen in this thread!!

Yeah some of them are beautiful. The funny thing is, until a coticule enthusiast in Belgium promoted them on his coticule specific web forum, they were unsaleable by the quarry at Ardennes. Turns out, whether it was intended or not, there was an alchemist who turned dross into gold ....... figuratively speaking.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
