NOS '00' Fricitonite (Brand New) Garage Sale Find!!!!
Thought I would share these pics of a 'Super Find' that I was lucky enough to spot at a local garage sale. I rarely if ever go to garage sales, and the only reason I stopped at this one was because they had a pair of old Barber Chairs sitting on the lawn. I figured I would stop to see what they had in terms of 'Barber Supplies' just for the heck of it. You never know!
Anyway...here is what I found, in addition to some other NOS and used hones. I picked up 12 BRAND NEW '00' Frictionite Hones ( 6 full size and 6 'Little 00 Frictionites' ), complete with green felt bags, full instructions, and rubbing stones...straight from the factory floor! And, I am ashamed to say I picked them all up for a 'fraction' of what single '00' hones go for on the Bay...
WHAT A FIND! (I think a Vegas Trip is in order!!!!)
Sorry about the picture quality...My camera is not that good, and neither am I...but take notice of the original "Retail Price Per Hone of $2.75, and $.50 for the Abrasive Rub Stone". Things were definitely more affordable in the 'old days'...

You'd better hope the forum doesn't have any ambitious IRS agents; talk about a taxable event!
nice find.

I would definitely keep one and get rid of the other and use the funds to buy a rarer natural stone. hehehe
Nice score!! I can't believe the condition of these..

Thanks! Actually I was thinking the same thing myself...but since I am not a vendor or 'seller', I was thinking maybe a trade or some such thing. I also picked up at this garage sale (6) NOS Coticules, a NOS Swaty Diamond Hone, a NOS Duble Duck Dry Hone, and a NOS Graco Strop Backed Hone. All in all it was a GREAT DAY!
My only dilemma right now, is trying to figure out if I even want to try any of them out because they are so 'perfectly brand new'...more like 'museum pieces' really.
But that's a nice dilemma to have....Last edited by Wolfpack34; 04-07-2012 at 06:59 PM.
