    Question What color?

    A black finisher in standard size, or, is it blue black or green?? This on a white background with a daylight bulb!

    I have seen light green ones that were pretty different in color, one almost yellow green the other one close to bluegreen.
    Who knows how accurate were the people that graded them back in the day...

    I had a blue-green, and it was a very good stone, and I got really nice edges with it.

    I have a labeled blue/green that has a definite yellow hue to it when wet. Another thing to consider, I don't think photos seen on our monitors truly reflect the color of the stones when seen firsthand. Whatever, IME an escher/thuringan by any other name is still a good hone. How it works is what is important to me but colors/labels are cool. Killer stones you've got there geez.

    I recently sold two in the SRP classifieds. They come up on ebay from time to time, and in our classifieds. Go to the classifieds and put a WTB (want to buy) ad in there. Something may turn up. I've still got a few but I'm keeping what I have.

    Thanks guys, I have put up an ad in the classifieds. I realllly wish I knew you were selling a couple . I hope I am able to find one of these. I want it to be my personal tool and would never be putting it up for sale.

    I am retired and love to drive. I have posted elsewhere that I use antiquing to give me a reason to drive.
    That said,
    As a popular off-center dirge of my youth; "Happy Birthday" one of the lines expressed it best: "People Dying Everywhere; Happy Birthday."
    Many antique stores get their stock from estates they clean out and salvage for the descendents. Or from descendants that want to get rid of "junk"
    Meaning, A store may have the new stock in for a day or weeks. That means yesterday is not today.

    Get to know the proprietors/clerks of the stores you visit.
    ~~~~BE POLITE!!!! "Please's" if you want a cabinet opened or some other service by the clerk/owners and "thank you's" for that service and also as you leave a store let the clerks know the door opening is you leaving. That uncommon behavior will let the folks remember you!
    If you make a find, stick around and schmooze the clerk unless the shop is really busy.
    A poker face is an asset!!! You got it for a song, thank them for having that item and other shaving items....Then after you are in the car and around the block, Scream for Joy!
    Stop by those stores when you have the chance.
    Let them know of your "Hobby" and after you make a grubby find and renew it, show it to the clerk you bought it from! Or; after you know them, show a nice find that you got for a fair but really low price.
    Don't bitch to them about your dry spell.
    Let them know you consider their side of the equation. Don't share a bad day with them, they get too many folks doing that already
    Understand the baseball analogy: The %s are against you. I may make a find once in ten trips. And if I count stores visited, once in 20 to one hundred store visits.
    What can happen??
    You become respected by the dealers!
    You may get a call about something that just came in.
    You may be asked to help identify and price items, know ebay "completed" auction pricing. I have traded my time for items that I wanted.
    You may get referrals to help others with collections and repairs.
    You may get to know other "razor folks" in your area through the dealer. Swaps are fun!
    Not,"Get a life!!!" but "Enjoy a life"
    Respectfully submitted.
