New to me Hone
Just wanted to show the Stone that I purchased off eBay last week. I came in the mail today. I just washed it off, haven't tried to take it out of it's box and
Haven't used it but have I feeling that I'll be happy with it.

Thanked: 2027Think Zib is right,I got this in japan 67/68,the stone that is mounted is not any type of Jnat, maybe it was army surplus or something.Have never used it for anything,is just a disply thingie.Just lapped it with the DMT,slurry is milky white, stone is very hard,to my eye looks the same as the above.

The lady that sold it to me did not know what type of stone it was. She had a goodly number of people inquire but as it was covered in dirt and crud and look lt looked black no one knew. I was fortunate in that she sold it to me for 30$us Including postage. Lapping it tomorrow ( but it looks very level now) and see what it does. Thank for all your notes.

Thanked: 2209I have 2 stones that color. One is a soft Arkansas and the other a hard Arkansas. You will know when you start honing on it. The hard Arkansas is very slick and smooth, like glass. The soft Arkansas will feel like sandstone.
