I sort of went with a size I already knew, from my various other hones, for my first Coticule, 8"*3".
I never regretted getting a full size hone.

It took me a while to adjust to my 150x40 coticule. Its a little too narrow for my taste.

My bout with primary dimensions of about 100x60 works better for me even though the stroke is shorter.

So I would recommend a wider hone. 60-75 mm wide is ideal but 50 mm is okay And I would prefer length >125 but 100mm is certainly usable.

Bigger is better and rectangles are great, the only real limit is your budget

My favorite sizes are the vintage 4x2" or 5x2.5" barbershop stones (Old Rock/Deep Rock), but the 6x2" is good too. Anything more is wasted coticule, IMHO.

I used to think the bigger the better but I found sense then that big one really doesn't mean that much. With a crooked or blade that is smily or frown you can really sharpen it better with a less wide hone like a 1 or 1 1/2 inch wide, especially if you don't plan on removing the smile or frown. I do perfer the longer stones though...more removal per stroke. Just my opinion...

Honest, that is a myth that just keeps being repeated,,, and I could have bet serious money and won that someone here would repeat it again

There is no advantage or disadvantge to a thinner hone or a wider hone there is only the ability of the guy pushing the razor to keep the blade even on the hone...

As always it's the guys with the little ones who say size is unimportant.
