Thurignian are finally here

Well I have always been looking at other threads that recount other peoples of their Thuringians and now I get to make on of my own. YAY!! I found the boxed one on eBay for a reasonable price, believe it or not, and the other in the classifieds here. Both are very nice examples of these stones and I am enjoying them both.

I'm not sure what the label says but if anyone can translate it that would be much appreciated. I tried Google translate and I got a little bit from that but not much.

I guess the translation would be similar to the Thuringians with the label in English. Good for razors, keep away from oil and that's it. The prices have dropped pretty much for the celebrated razor hone, but the size is really really small. That's one I bought a couple of weeks ago. Dainty natural razor whet stone boxed vgc | eBay Good price, but I have bigger slurry stones. Even Thuringian slurry stones.

I appreciate the basic translation. We all don't have the money to buy the big versions.

I don't have the money either. The highest price I paid for a stone were 100 euros, and I will soon sell it. The best way for the bigger versions would be to buy unidentified stones, that look like what we are looking for. That's what I'm doing for years, and so far it goes very well. Regarding the label I'm sure someone will offer a decent translation unlike mine. I have to say, this yellow-green Thuringian is one of the best finishers I have.

"This stone, only used with water, generates a flawless cutting edge. The stone is very fine grained and should not be used with oil or grease. By previous grinding with a "Nagura" (sorry, don´t know the english word for Anreibstein) a slurry gets produced. Upon this tools like knives etc. should be stropped and a extra fine cutting edge is guaranteed."

Anreibstein = slurry stone or rubbing stone.

how do you guys use these with water or a slurry, i no label it recomends water ? escher label recomend slurry/lather .
