OK, Here's a few of mine. All Selected or Kosher. I used to sell them, and wound up keeping one out of every order that appealed to me, for one reason or another. These are mostly 6x2's, Many are Combo's I believe. The 6x2 top right is a Kosher Dressante, it say's "Kojer"on the top, and the bottom, top row, middle is a Kosher Dressante bout. The Pink one in the wooden box has Les Lat hybrid side to it, or some kind of hybrid, it's like glass. I think it's Vintage.
The boxed 8x3 I got from Howard at the perfect edge quite a few years ago. It was my first Coticule, and a great stone.
I have some 8x3's somewhere....I'll save those for later....
Then there's the Tiger Coti's. Rob at Ardennes was kind enough to send them to me. Thanks Rob!
Enjoy...!
P.S. In case your wondering, The top row, 4th from the left is my favorite stone. It's Dressante and the one's with pencil marks have never been used or lapped. No need.Last edited by zib; 07-31-2012 at 02:04 AM.

Thanked: 443Here's my little petting zoo of cotis. The regular rectangular one is 1.75 x 5.875". It was in an old family toolbox and I had it for years, unused, before I started reading here and honing. I had no idea what it was. It's very very slow but a fantastic finisher. I usually just use it wet, no slurry.
The narrow one on the far right is a natural combo, and I use it as a travel hone. It's a good all-around hone, reasonably fast on slurry and gives a good finished edge on water only. I dilute every 15 strokes by replacing ~1/3 of the water on the hone and do 5 or 6 dilutions in a honing session. The BBW side, with a heavyish slurry, seems to max out its keenness pretty quickly, maybe 30 strokes? I haven't kept really close track of it. If I work in Antarctica, this hone and one razor (and the little blue DMT hone for slurry) are all I'll take, and maybe my too-oily latigo strop.
The big bout is very very fast; darkens slurry as the blade comes close to the stone. Not a hot finisher, not yet anyway, in my hands. The smaller bout is interesting in that the yellow surface has the same pattern of roundish spots that you see on BBWs. Its claim to fame is merely cosmetic so far.
Here are other views of the natural combos.

Do you use distilled water or tap water on your cotis?

Thanked: 1587I have 3 natural combos and a glued one. They are all, as far as I can tell, nice workman-like stones and with enough time and effort can give a nice, albeit not quite ready, edge. I have no idea what vein they come from - if anyone asks I usually say "la Hypotenuse".
