Do you know your coticule
Hello Gentlemen i'm starting this thread for all of the coticule lovers out there. So show off your coticule and tell us how you use it the size hardness and the speed
First up my 6x2 medium hard yellow combo coticule slow/med on water med/fast with slurry . This is the first stone i learn to hone on. i can use this stone after a 1k stone with heavy slurry and finish on the same stone. the edge this stone gives a razor is a mix of a light mello and sharp more towards the side of sharp.Last edited by eleblu05; 07-29-2012 at 05:37 PM.

Thanked: 46just honed up my 3 new straights last night..mine can even take my full wedge 6/8
straight without a hitch..as long as its angled right..my coti is a 6" x 1.5" VERY vintage..my edges are mellow and VERY keen to the touch!
I use a DMT1200 Diamond Plate for bevel setting..goes pretty quick as long as you figure out the razors proper angle

I've got four I'm getting to know.
The first one I bought is a natural combo, I think it may be la verte. It's small and hard, almost glasslike. I usually just use it with water as a finisher but used in conjunction with the bbw side it's quite a versatile little stone:
Next I got a le petite blanche slurry stone which turned out to be just big enough for finishing on and is a natural combo, it's the softest of the four & has the most uniform surface. It's pretty thick for it's size so my plan is to lap the longest side for a mini two tone hone:
Then I got a big vintage stone, it's just a chunk of coticule with a rough back. Quite a hard stone, I use it mainly for finishing as I can't bring myself to wear it down:
And last but not least a glued combo. My favourite stone for dilucot, it works fast and has good feedback. I use the bbw side most of the time for finishing knives:

These are mine. I have not tried a couple of them. on the right is a vintage. Other than that im not sure of the names. I would have to look into it. I will do some testing and let you know how they are.
