Ok now you guys are just messing with me, I was told those greenish blue lines and the scale pattern in the stone are what makes it a Something Gris (sp) and they are the best finishers ...
I have also been told the it is a something Vienette (sp) and that they are great too
So far no one has said is is a Natural combo
I do however know for a fact that is is a Select Grade Coticule, and it is a great finisher... at least in my hands it is Muhahaha
Wait.... which vein makes it worth the most $$$$, I bet that is what it isLast edited by gssixgun; 09-24-2012 at 06:13 PM.

It's not La Veinette because that's almost always a natural combo stone and the blue side of the stone will have yellow lines in it.
It's not la grise, they are soft stones.
Glen,
Unforunately La Nouvelle Veine isn't talked about much and doesn't demand much money...
I'll take yours for $50 shipped though... I'll be generous lol.

Nice looking stone. It still amazes me how many stones I was tempted to buy just because of how they looked. Glad I didn't though or I would really be broke.

Thanked: 247Here's my one and only remaining coticule. It's fast without slurry. It's fast with slurry. So far as I can tell, it's not a finishing stone by any stretch. It noticeably degrades a N8k edge as evidenced by the AHT, and a couple valiant attempts at a shave test. It's also a really great paperweight, and razor porn prop. But I didn't buy it to use anyhow! lol!! It's belgian blue backed, and this one was distributed by Sears & Roebuck Co., which I think is way better than a little bit cool.

I took som etime to look at all these lovely pictures.
I'll post my coticule if I have a moment to take some pictures.
I ordered directly form www.ardennes-coticule.be about 4 years ago.
I don't know which quarry mine came from though. I must have known at som epoint, but you know how memories fade with age
