Default Found this rock in a pile of rocks.

Is there a faster way to make the whole thing flat.
that would be faster then a diamond plate.
    cause it's taking forever.
Should i rub it with sand.
I think it's a good grit to grind away serious rust.
on the sides of knives and tools.

You might make it smooth but you won't make it flat that way unless you have some engineering skills & tools.
A large piece of float glass & some SiC powders might get it flat.

Take it to a marble shop or where they do counter tops, they will polish it for you for cheap. Times are tough and they will most likely do the job.

Why not lap about 3 inches wide toward the side of the stone flat with your DMT and then evaluate it before spending too much time and money to see how it goes. Good luck and fun stuff!

Well... I'll tell you what I did. I went out onto my driveway and rubbed the heck out of mine until it was at least consistently smooth with no really high or low points - then I took my DMT to it.

My wife still laughs at me whenever she see's the discoloration on the driveway that seemingly will never go away... but that stone wan't as big or heavy as yours. But at least it's not 103 out anymore either!

    Good luck! Looks like fun!

Holy cow!!! At what stage do a rock become a boulder?
    Good luck.

I'd like to know, too. How did you settle on that rock, as opposed to the others around it? Did you have a knife or something with you to test it?

    Cheers,

You need to find a quarry, or a place that cuts marble and granite, They might be able to help you out...

If that's a DMT C, it's probably going to be trash when your done.
