This was an auction find in a box of hones. It says Crown. It measures about 2 inches by 5 inches. Any one have one like it? Any info would be appreciated.

Looks like one, it needs to be cleaned though.

Yes its a vintage razor hone, clean it up with a DMT or sandpaper, do not soak it in water over night. The old razor hone binders can break down if left to soak in water too long, also don't use any chemicals, just soap and water.

I cant offer advise on that, most are good enough for a low budget light touch up stone. Unless the binder has already broke down, which you will know if you sand it and it gets gummy,

If its nice and hard, and you Lapp it progressively to finer grits, it should be good to go. I think I read they are usually around 8k. Someone else will have to weigh in on that though,

It looks like a nice barber hone, clean with a tooth brush & dish soap, lap with a DMT under running water if you want to use it.
    Thank you for sharing it.

Barber hones aren't rated like normal hones, for the most part, IIRC, (may just be Swaty, I'm not sure) but I'd say they're around 10-12k more or less....I think that's the general consensus.
    We have assumed control !
