No, zib hurt his re hurt his back, (I already broke it once) and has been laying on the couch the last few days popping pain pills, drinking single malt scotch.
I think everyone will really like hone #3, No.1 reminds me of a Coticule, and the jury's still out on 2.Last edited by zib; 09-27-2012 at 02:32 PM.

Thanked: 1936I just got back from your wonderful State...Destin & Pensacola area. I may have to find a railroading JOB out there somewhere...the beauty was astounding. I'm peeling like a lizard, but loved every minute of it! Now to catch up on emails & PM's.

Thanks for the interest -PM sent.
Well, everyone is awaiting delivery I'm afraid, as I've just yesterday got the the printing for the labels etc. back from my printer. So a bit more lapping on some stones and then looking to send them all out in the next few days.

Thanked: 14I am - Patient that is - Get them they way you want them before you ship. There is only one first impression and that you control.
I am ready to begin some touch ups to get started. Then practice - on my "Dollar" as one stone honing.

Thanked: 14Zib - I plan on doing a touch up on my razors to start - I plan on just water with no slurry - or do you think I need to bring up a slurry?
The razors were finished on a Coti or a Jnat and they are sharp but not perfectly sharp. I want to take one a put a Zulu-Grey finished edge on it and evaluate the shave.

I would. I did,...But give it a shot, and see how it does. Every blade I've taken to this stone is markedly better. Since they're naturals, they're may be some differences, not much though given the type stone this is. The differences won't be as extreme as say Coticules.
I would think these are going to be much more consistent. For instance, My Nakayama Maruichi Asagi loves hard steel, like Sheffields, but not Dovo's, etc..I take a Sheffield to that Jnat, it's bliss. I take a Dovo, it's just OK. That's a big difference. With the Zulu, it seems to like all steel.
Definitely give it a shot. A shave ready blade, 10-20 laps on just water, sounds like a plan to me. If your not satisfied, or blown away like I was, go back, make a light slurry and go from there. With most blades, my stone seems to like a bit of cutting slurry, and the sweet spot is usually over 60 laps. Really not much when you think about it.Last edited by zib; 10-04-2012 at 10:27 PM.
