Naniwa Watter Hones
I just wanted to start a thread devoted to naniwa whet hones. I have the 220grit-1000grit combo stone I personally like it I just wish it was 8x3x1. I was wanting to know about their other hones and what everybodys opinion on them. Especially other grits. Thanks in advance for input and participation.
Thank you,
Swerve

I have only used the Naniwa 3/8k that belongs to RickyBeeroun222 and it is a lovely hone to use.
It gave me great results too.
If I wasn't so caught up with naturals I'd have one.Hang on and enjoy the ride...

I used the 1-3-8-12K stones almost exclusively for about a year.
Excellent stones with nice feedback, and they give a terrific edge, but they are quite soft and tend to swarf up a bit, but nothing to worry about for the average user.
I still have all except for the 1K and use them now and then when when a razor "tells me" that's the stones it want.Need help or tutoring? Check out the .

I have the 1,3,5,8 and 12k naniwa. I think they are very nice stones and put very nice edges on my razors. I slurry them with a nagura stone when honing.
I dream of a world where a chicken can cross a road without having it's motives questioned.

Thanked: 443I just have a 12k Naniwa, and love it. It's what I go to off my Norton 8 and before I move to any naturals. Though the naturals may be a step back in grit, I like to know exactly what they stepped back from.

Re: Naniwa Watter Hones
Thanks guys. And lynn was telling me that Naniwa SS hones don't need Nagura stones with them. What do you guys think? Except for on the 220 grit then a slurry would be a little helpfull
Thank you,

Yup, Slurry is helpful, If you have a DMT 325, Do a couple of figure 8's on the Naniwa's before you hone. Slurry will help.
