    Lapping is the process of making the stone flat, with sandpaper or diamond plate etc.

    This one was a pain to lamp. It took an eternity to lamp through that old label and all that urethane!

    No, seriously. What Hirlau and Martin said. Lots of info. A well-worn dmt 325 is my flattener of choice!

    That's because you were using a wimpy lamp. This is what you need:
