    Y'know back years ago the yellow coticule side was the only side considered to be a 'hone.' The blue side, whether glued or natural, was not considered to be a hone. This is why you'll see labels , like the "Old Rock" and "Deep Rock," glued onto the blue side. It was considered strictly to be for reinforcing the fragile yellow coticule.

    It is only in recent years that the BBW has taken on a rep as a fair to middling stone. So maybe the vendor was going by that same philosophy ? Nice natural anyway. Hope it works well for you.
