What Do I Have Here?
Hello Gentleman,
I was wondering if anyone could help tell me what I have here. I ordered this beautiful Coticule which was just delivered to me (Can't wait to use it!!), and I was under the impression that I ordered a single-sided one (just slate backing, no BBW). However when I received it, it almost looks as if it's a natural combo stone (with BBW.) Does this not look like BBW to you, or am I incorrect?
The 2 first pics below are of the Coti, and the 3rd pic is of the Slurry Stone which came with it for comparison (which obviously is glued to the slate backing). What do you think? Thanks in advance for the replies!

Thanked: 459Looks like a natural combo with a glued slurry stone to me.
I can't remember what other vein looks vaguely like a lagrise, but it doesn't look too different than a lagrise that I have.

OK so I'm not going nuts...It does right?!
The uneven line separating the two leads me to suspect the same thing (natural combo), but it's funny because the company I ordered it from said specifically that it was single-sided. Hmmm....
Unfortunately I didn't find out what vein it was from...

Some shops don't differentiate between slate backed coticules and natural combination coticules others will charge (a lot) more. So unless you paid extra you got lucky! BBWs can be useful in use and will add to the looks of your coticule

With out a better pic it's hard to tell the vein but it looks to be a La Grise. If the coticule side looks grainy that's what it would be.

Thanked: 459I have a big lagrise that's only a few months old (well, a few months new to me), it has the sort of three dimensional effect on the surface if you look at it.

There has been a lot of the La Grise coticules being mined as of late, bets are that's what you have.

One side looks (possibly) glued and the other natural. Cannot fake the natural side, I feel it is BBW/Coti! Use it!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
