    Which spyderco stones do you have? The brown one in my opinion is about as fine as a 3k Naniwa, the fine and ultra fine are much finer than the 1/3k Naniwa.

    I cut into the Nani 1k sharpening a Ka Bar knife IIRC. They are soft, so you need to be aware. Mine are mounted to the plastic base.

    I really like the Arkansas stones for knife sharpening. I just got done doing my pocket knife, and you can shave with it......

    i have the medium brown,the fine white,and the ultra fine white with red ends that i paid extra

    In my opinion those are more than enough for knives, a lot of people here are finishing their razors on the UF, and are liking the results.
