    Default new old hone

    Hi all.
I bought a Columbia razor hone on eBay and was wondering if anybody had any experience with these. Here is the link. Carborundum Razor Hone Sharpener Columbia Hone | eBay I figured why not for 20 bucks... I plan on buying a Norton 4/8k combo soon, and a 12 k Chinese, but I thought I may be able to make due with this hone for now. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Kevin

I would not be putting any of my razors on that Carrburundum. The barbers hone is probably still serviceable

    Welcome Kevin,

The Carborundum # 112 is not for your razors, I have a NOS # 112 & would not use it on razors.
The barber hone is a bit rough, clean it up with some dish soap or Simple Green & after looking at the close up photos of it, I would definitely lap it, before considering using it on a razor. Most barber hones I do not lap, but that one I would. It has 2 areas of concern on the front, under the title.

    Just my thoughts.
