These are named Blais Natural Hones, i still have the original label left somewhere....

They have a far appearance to some of the french Special Stones because they also have a certain glittering....iam shure its a slate type stone from whereever these are coming...

My findings are that the stones are in a finisher league, but the shaving quality is beyond a razor finished with a vintage thuringian stone....but they really look aweful with their clouded inclusions and the glittering...

I will sent my example with the next package to Hatzicho to have another experienced statement on these stones...

Here is the original label which was on my stone, i only have seen 3-5 the past half year all in a near barber Hones size...

I have no further information on the Blais Company what they did and when they were active...i have to admit i didnt researched the topic further till now...

    Default Thuringian Beautys

Something i found today which might fit in thinking of the family History, if these are the right Blais i do not know but the connection to running a Barber Shop in Hartford Hilton Hotel might fit....so here is the text:

    "BLAIS, Paul A.

Paul A. Blais, 85, of Westfield Rd., Meriden, formerly of Elizabeth Court, Rocky Hill died Wednesday, (August 28, 2002) in the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of the late Gilberte ``Betty'' Vezina Blais. Born in East Angus, Province of Quebec, Canada, December 16, 1916, a son of the late Arthur and Alice Duquette Blais, he had been raised in Berlin, NH until 1943 when he moved to Hartford and also had lived in West Hartford, East Hartford and Rocky Hill before moving to Meriden in February. Mr. Blais had been the proprietor of the Hartford Hilton Hotel Barber Shop for 30 years. He also had been a Hartford radio commentator for 15 years at WKNB and WEXT delivering a Sunday morning program called the ``Paul Blais Show'' which featured music by French artists. Mr. Blais is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Donald Pyers of Wallingford; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Shirley Blais of Windsor Locks and Michael and Lynne Blais of Berlin; his two brothers, Constant Blais of Berlin, NH and Marcil Blais of Manchester, NH; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Pricille Vaillancourt and his brothers, Valerien Blais and Herve Blais. His family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Thursday TODAY from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from The Yalesville Funeral Home when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon. Interment in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492"

Sure sounds like the same Arthur Blais. I wonder where he sourced the stones ? If he ran a barber shop it makes sense that he'd be interested in razor hones. Could he have been a rockhound in the wilds of NH in his spare time ? Or did he contract the stones from a nearby quarry ? Interesting stuff.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I firstly thought that there might be a relation to france as i thought the Family was coming from france...so in this case all the nice french hones were in my mind...but going back in the familytree is seems that the family roots lie down on Canada....
