I have lot's of finisher's but I keep a vintage Escher out at all times for quick touch ups, along with a Swaty.
If I'm honing from start to finish, I may use a Jnat like a Vintage Nakayama Maruichi Asagi, or the Zulu.We have assumed control !

I tend to use my C12k most often. Since I don't have that many finishers my options are limited, but since someone thought it would be a good idea to start this thread I am going to have far to many finishers to read about to not to try them all. Looks like I will be buying some more stones in my near future.

Thanked: 3226It used to be a Nani 12K but now it is a Zulu Grey used after the Nani.
Bob
Forgot to add that I think you are missing at least one finisher on your poll list.

I have a Naniwa 12K and used it for a while but added the Zulu. I’m too new to honing to add any more finishing stones. As I was getting the hang of it, I could see the need for something beyond an 8k so I got the 12K. I was doing great with the 12k until I had a blade honed for me that came back finished on a Zulu. At that point I could see the need for a Zulu. But I haven’t figured out how to get the best from it yet. We’re still getting to know one another. That being said, I won’t be adding any new ones into the mix just yet. For now, its only Zulu for me.

My main finisher of choice is this vintage translucent Arkie. It has a nice milky white color with pink streaks and leaves my razors wonderfully smooth.

I usually go to my Otaniyama asagi kamisori, but got a bunch of other jnats, Eschers, Coticules, slates to play with.
It depends on the razor and what i feel like.

I have a bunch of finishers but at the sink in the shave cave; this is the go to for edge forward stropping.
I do have Eschers but I much prefer the term Thuringian, or Thuringer. My final or next to final hone would be a C-12K or a blue Thuringer or a Zulu. Y/G Thuringians may be great but I renew too many razors to go that high for only a couple shaves.
I do have a choice few razors which have met that cherished hone.

PS. If any method works for you and you get good shaves..Wonderful
