Default Hone found in old shaving Box. Any ideas of what it could be?

Saw an interesting travel box with a strop and hone on ebay. Was located in Argentina. Well I went for it, and it arrived today. The Hone had come loose in transit, so I flattened it with a diamond plate. The razor is worthless. ( I think) , but if the box is the same age as the razor, it might be very old? That's all I can tell you. Enjoy the pictures....any guesses about the stone?

I saw that auction. Razor is in rough shape, but could still be repaired if one had the inclination and a lot of patience.
The stone is possibly a thuringian, or, a schweidenstien (for the love of god, I cant spell that!)
    Somebody help me out here!
Its a very good stone, and part of the reason that neat box was worth going for.

Yes, it's a Schwedenstein. I have a couple of them, they are nice stones, congrats!

I was hoping it was a good stone. ( I was after the box.) I am planing to restore it.. I'll post photos when I finish. How does a Schwedenstein compare to a Thuringian? Is it used only as a finisher?

Definately Schwedenstein, i have couple of them too.
Well at some Point i did write somewhere that the Schwedenstein Will leave an edge as sharp as vintage thuringian and as smooth as a coticule.
    Yes finisher or touchups.

I got some hones with streaks like that, I thought they were shale.
Any good way to tell Thuringian, Schwedenstein and Shale apart?

Blöt dom och ta en titt. Thuringian är hyfsat enfärgade. Schwedenstein är fantastiska med linjer och oftast sandfärger. Vad är Shale min vän? Dela en bild

    English please, we're not alone!

He wrote something like: "Wet them and take a look. Thuringian is mostly one colored. Schwedenstein is fantastic with lines and sand colors. What is Shale my friend?"

    Shale in Swedish is "Skiffer".
