Default Unknown Am. Hone Co. Oleans NY

Found this little guy somewhere and wanted to know what I might have. The only label is "Am Hone Co Oleans NY". I was thinking that it might be a Frictionite XX???? Fillin the blank for me? An early 00 perhaps??

Sorry, I cannot tell you what name goes with that hone. I do have 75 of their salesmans sample hones but I would have to go thru each of them. Thats another project to do. Create a Gallery of the AHC hones that I have for reference purposes.

I doubt that it is a Frictionite because they used the same abrasive & binder AFAIK which resulted in a specific color for the fine side of the hone. Each ingredient had a specific color and your hone does not have the correct colors.

    IMHO, no, sorry

No worries! If you ever come up with any other information, that'd be wonderful. I've got 4 barbers hones in my drawer right now including a swaty and a two sided amalgomite and it does feel the finest out of the batch.

It looks very similar to an "Exide" hone I've seen on Ebay. It's not the right color to be a frictionite.
