Been rubbing the slurry stone on the edge like that for a few years or more and it works well for me. YMMV.
i tried that the other day , it didnt feel right ...lol.. i cut my slurry stones down so it would feel even more strange now .., was VERY effective method though !! thanks for the post cause honestly ive never saw or heard anyone do it like that and when i did it it was because the stone started to flip over .. i was like wow , that is a lot easier !!
