Default Natural stone I.D. help please!!

Today I picked up a stone at an antique market that show'd some use and smelled of oil. It has a chip on the corner which shows its natural layers. Once I got it home I cleaned it up in some soapy water and gave it a good scrub with a sos pad. After many sheets of wet/dry sand paper I was able to get it lapped very smooth ending at 600 grit. Here's a bunch of pics with slurry, wet, dry, and an end shot with some different colored layers.

Any help with identifying what kind of a stone it is would be a lot of help. I have a razor that needs some touch up that I think I'll try this stone on tonight. Thanks again for any help guys!

I vote Thuri, too. An Arkansas wouldn't have shed all that slurry before denuding the sandpaper.

Did you get the oil out? That stone should probably not have been used with oil.

The visible strata are very interesting.

I have a black Ark that I don't shave off of. Its in my display case. I did however lap it a while back and seemed a lot harder than this stone. My Ark is also a lot more darker than this one as this one has a gray/blue color to it.

When I saw it was a natural and covered in oil, I was slightly disappointed. I already shaved off of it 10 min ago and the shave was on par with my 12k Nani. Probably should have waited until I made an attempt at getting the oil out of it but I figured, why not. I guess my next step is to try removing some of the oil and like Roughkype said, see if it improves an 8k edge.

After scrubbing it again in the kitchen sink with dawn and a scotch brite pad, the oil smell is completely gone. I even had my wife smell it to make sure my sniffer wasn't playing tricks on me. I think I might still let it sit in some litter for a couple days to try and get more drawn out of it. You guys have made me a happy guy. I was hoping it would be something like a Thuri!!

A Thuri and a BossBarber hone for $10, Man am I lucky. Now a 1200 Atoma is a must!!!

Sitting it in litter won't hurt, but thurries are hard and non-porous, so I don't think there will be any oil in the stone.
